In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit
and are strengthened in our Christian life.
The
gifts of the Spirit are: wisdom, understanding, knowledge, right judgement,
reverence, courage, and awe and wonder. Confirmation
strengthens the work of the Holy Spirit in us which was begun in Baptism.
The confirmation programme at St Gregory’s is open to young people in Year
8 or above. The programme is run by
catechists and usually starts in February.
There are six evening sessions, two special masses, a service of
Reconciliation, a retreat day and the Confirmation ceremony itself.
The Confirmation ceremony usually takes place at St Alban’s Church in
Macclesfield in June.
